Distinguished Members of Parliament,
Please find attached the response to your letter concerning a
draft piece of legislation on abortion, under debate in Romania. The response,
sent to you by the Minister for Relations with the Parliament, Mircea Duşă,
states that the Government has taken a negative opinion on the draft law and has
subsequently informed the Parliament.
Therefore, the Government opinion, the parliamentary majority
that supports the Government, as well as the strong civil society reactions in
Romania to the draft law guarantee that the draft law will not be adopted, at
least not in its present form.
